At least Battaini has been riding the bike on a regular basis recently. Ducati and the Cardion team will probably learn more from having him on board than they could from a quality out-of-work guy - although only Vermeulen really comes to mind in that field anyway. Checa has had his time in MotoGP, and imagine the blow to Althea if he got injured? Giugliano might have been an option if the Ducati higher brass see him as having real potential though.
