@Daniel and where are they going to find a rider who is currently "on it"? All the fast guys have contracts and nobody is going to release their rider from his contract for one ride on an uncompetitive bike. I'm sure there's plenty in the team who would rather just stay home, but IIRC the rules don't allow a team to skip three races in a row.
Sure Franco's race craft will be a little rusty, but the biggest problem he will face is not being used to the bike. Abraham's bike is nothing like the current factory bikes that Franco is developing, so he will have to re-adapt to what is in effect an old setup. So he is having to effectively develop his setup for the circuit from scratch in practice. The last thing he needs is wet practice.
