Spies is a very capable rider, how the pressure affected him doesnt change the rotten luck he has endured with the crap crew, tyre problems, and other **** people are oblivious to which I like to group into one word: politics. He does deserve to stay in MotoGP, MotoGP can sometimes chew you and spit you out. Melandri is a testament to this. We all know how he has been racing in WSBK, but not everyone knows of how he was an 'alien' in his own right when he was with the Telefonica Movistar Honda Team in the 990cc era. Ducati's bike ended his MotoGP career. He did very well on the Hayate Kawi considering the absence of factory support. Ben deserves to stay and be given more of a chance, Melandri deserves another shot.
