It might be a good idea indeed to let go the control tires for the CRTs. They would qualify higher for sure, and ran competitively at least in certain events.
I never was in favor of this control tire rule anyways. Sure some riders and teams got special treatment, but the control tire formats the bikes too much. Mind you, the supreme irony is that it was the fact that Dorna bowed to the wishes of the rider who got the most out of that advantage, and when he lost it, moaned and moaned until Michelin was driven out of the sport.. now since when is this normal in a sport?
