@ TalentFan, I take your points although I sincerely hope that you aren't lumping me in with the 'Rossi can do no wrong' posters.
Martin wanted a talented, hardworking rider brought in for the remaining races and I assumed he meant Dovi or Cal. I rate the pair of them highly but can't see them outperforming Rossi or a fully fit Nicky. (next year maybe.)
Occasionally I'm accused of being blind to Rossi's faults when I defend him but, like you, I try to be objective.
To my mind Rossi (and Jerry) have failed miserably in their quest to improve the Ducati and I have no idea where to put the blame.
Conversely Stoner's massive ability to put the Ducati on the podium so many times didn't improve the bike either.
Above all I want to see the Ducati back on top, unfortunately there's nobody able to do put it there. (please don't suggest Casey, we don't want to see him retire in a wheelchair)
