Couple of problems with the Gresini ride: firstly the team isn't too healthy financially, (San Carlo are reportedly reducing their sponsorship) and that could impact the way things are run at some point. Also, Gresini run Showa suspension, so they can't really benefit from data from the factory squad (unlike Tech 3 for example). And of course Repsol have a contractual guarantee that their factory bike will be better. On the other hand, is there any point in him going back to WSBK to do again what he's already done? Tough decision ahead for him now.
