But I think the main attraction for Spies is this: nobody really knows who is going to shine on the Ducati next year. Spies has every chance - in theory - of outperforming the other Ducati riders and steering development to suit his style, because you can bet Ducati will favour the guy bringing in the results. And if 2013 works well, then a spot is going to open up for the following year when Nicky's contract expires.
For now, Spies will again be competing in a strong team but as an underdog. Sound familiar?
