If a motoGP bike weighing 150kg was built out of solid gold it would cost about 5.5 million pounds at current gold prices. As it is, they cost probably about 5.5 million pounds. The biggest cost is having a load of expensive people developing and building a couple of dozen bikes a year and riders demanding millions. This cannot be sustained in the current climate as there is not enough sponsorship money around. Ask Suzuki, Kawasaki, Aprillia or BMW, because that is why they are not buiding prototypes for motoGP.
