The weight difference matters less in GPs than the smaller classes. GP bikes have masses of power, the trick is to get the power down. Pedrosa dominated 125s and 250s. He has been a top class rider in GPs but has only been dominant off the line into the first corner- after that he is probably at a disadvantage in some ways, not having much mass to flick the bike from side to side. Low weight will probably make it a bit easier to save tires in GPs. Scott needs to get up to GPs ASAP.
