What a year 2001 was to start watching MotoGP!
Those beautiful 500cc 2 strokes, the Rossi/Biaggi rivalry, the competitiveness of the Manufacturers and my favourite looking bike of all time the yellow Nastro Azzurro Honda.
As a 9 year old kid watching MotoGP for the first time was round 1 at Suzuka and that race had it all, elbow barging, the middle finger salute from Rossi to Biaggi and lots of passing. What an era that was.
Looking back on those days puts the current MotoGP to shame. There are no rivalries anymore, everyone is friends, the racing is pretty tame and I don't think the bikes are quite as good looking as they were especially after 2006.
Anyway for all us that could remember those days and the Rossi/Biaggi battles cherish them as we might not see anything like that in MotoGP for quite some time.
