Sure, takes guts to walk away at the top. So two things, one being : he's not exactly at the top, he's third from the top. But well yes, for argument's sake let's say he was among the contenders, so he's walking away at the top. Ok fair play, power to him. Second being: takes even more guts to stay on while at the top, and take on the upcoming hungry younger generation and face challenges one after the other. Stay long enough and the hero becomes the villainn, and you need real guts to take on that possibility.
