I probably shouldn't be surprised that Smith gets a bashing on here, but now it really is getting silly.
All the facts about the Tech3 Moto2 bike being behind the others in terms of development are fairly well known, but still debatable to an extent. What isn't debatable is a very good opening test for Smith. As some other posters have wisely stated, his times for a first test are as good, if not better, than comparable times from Crutchlow, Bradl etc. He led the wonderkid marquez for most of the session, and even then was not far behind on time in the end (Marquez arguable benefiting from a drying track and better tyres....oh and a works bike).
It is one thing for the haters to look silly based upon slightly unknown quantities (the Tech 3 Mistral), but entirely another for them to be ignoring the facts relating to his first performance on a MotoGP bike.
Oh, and the bit about money talks.....perhaps it will surprise some to know that Redding and Espargaro are also well backed.
