@ Objectively speaking, it is a bit short-sighted to say that Rossi was a bad investment.

How so? You can continue to say that, but you, nor anyone else has provided any proof that he was a "good invenstment", while on the other hand, I have shown how he was a bad investment.
Rossi had more "tools" at his disposal and any of his predecessors. Rossi failed to make a difference. Ducati came out worse than what they started. They still have a bad bike and if Rossi could only manage three podiums and no wins what makes you think "insert rider name here" will be any better? Ducati has effectively destroyed thier chance of getting a big name back on the bike. Be it Rossi's fault or Ducati's fault, this is the reality.
