Lies, damned lies and statistics aside You could argue that this year the bike lapped faster / produced lower race times (read quicker)than last year and the same for the year before so arguable the bike has improved therefore the Rossi Burgess package did what it was paid to do. But for reasons that we will never know could not improve as fast as the factory Japanese bikes. Just because Rossi couldn't win on it doesn't mean that the bike is worse or was a bad investment. What too many people on here forget is that while Ducati was trying to improve the bike, Honda and yamaha where doing exactly the same but faster and with better results. It would be nice to compare Honda / Yamaha and Ducati R&D spends for this year, what you can be sure of is that compared to the Ducati budget the Japanese ones would be astronomical.
