Well, watching the race footage and seeing just how fast MM's speed was on straights, I'd venture that the fact he didn't have a lot more 'fastest' scores was more due to the placement of the recorders TBH.
You can clearly see that MM on the Moto2 brakes earlier (poss his style & the way he sets up for a corner) than many of his rivals - Esp, Iannone, Redding and others could all be seen to be later and harder on the brakes and outbraking MM into corners in many races.
I think that if they moved the traps further up the straight that (thought the numbers would be of course smaller) that the outcome of whose bike was fastest would be very, VERY different and MM's name would feature prominently.
