In the current (and foreseeable) global climate I can't see more Mfrs making the series 'more comepetitive'. Its just too expensive, and Honda & Yamaha have got too much data and resources and very well sorted set-ups and packages. Limited budgets and testing mean they get to keep an edge others can't match IMO.
I also don't think that the comparison with F1 is wrong either - F1 was a boring procession but F1 management has control of F1 (i.e. NOT the mfrs), so they were able to introduce successful measures to get better racing, while MotoGP cannot (due to the Mfrs power in the series).
MotoGP would be better off with NO Factory teams rather than just 2 that are miles ahead of anyone else - Suzuki (any other Mfr fool enough to join) will simply beef up the midfield IMO.
