I'm happy to see some attempt at a system to penalise riders who do something clearly stupid and dangerous. Agree though that fair, consistent and intelligent application of penalties is the real key issue.
Marquez is a good example to choose, as he has a fair bit of 'previous' (and the paltry slaps on the wrists he's had so far doesn't seem to changed his attitude one bit).
There IS a difference between clean , hard racing and lunatic & dangerous antics. People seem to forget the victims - no-one mentions Ratapak Wilairot. Marquez's crazy antics could easily have ended RW's career, crippled or even killed him. As it was it put RW in hospital and off a bike for quite a while. Imagine the furore if MM took out a big name? There'd be a lot more fist-waving and calls for his head then eh?
