I don't think they should remove all the accumulated penalty points when a rider reaches the maximum sanction of 10, resulting in a disqualification. If a rider keeps on racking up points, the more incentive there is to change behaviour the better. Instead of wiping the slate, after the first disqualification a rider could maybe restart with 2, then the next time, 3 then 4 points, rather than zero, so a rider knows that if he refuses to change his ways, he's going to accumulate enough points for a penalty sooner than before. After two disqualifications, a rider would have 4 'sticky' points and have to start from the back of the grid for the rest of the season. Of course this assumes points are awarded fairly, but surely a rider whose riding is so bad it gets him 2 disqualifications in one season deserves a lasting penalty.
