I suppose we could use 2009 since JLo was not a rookie! but the answer is clear and some would say biased...so why not use 2010 as well, that is still debatable because Rossi broke his leg and arguably the title was out of reach by the time the leg was not an issue (even with the shoulder aside)...
so there is no one answer and again people will use whatever stats suit their reasoning.
2014 would be ideal because Rossi would have a year back on the new Yamaha 1000 bike and should be ready to give it a go! but what if he or JLo is injured for or during 2014 then the stat would again be debatable and no one would ever be pleased. See what i am saying?
