Great piece of misdirection by Nakamoto though IMO - steer the fans into b!tching about the tyres being responsible for spoiling the fact that there's an ice-age between Honda & Yam Factory bikes, the satellites, Ducati's & the CRT's. Yeah - its nothing to do with the massive factory budgets and influence over the technical rules, its the identical tyres we have to use.
I can understand that new control tyre constructions will work better for some than others, and that specific tyres for bikes would optimise performance which would help Ducati. What I really, really don't understand is why control tyres are to blame if a mfr can't get their bike to work with them?
Perhaps its time for a new idea - how about relax the testing restrictions for mfr's not in the top 2 to help them close the gap?
