Surely though, without some very strict controls, then opening up the tyre options is just replacing one problem that we are told adversely affects the racing with another?
And is tyres REALLY the fundamental problem, and the biggest one that renders no-one able to get near Honda & Yam? I'm really not sure that it is, but some people like Nakamoto seem keen to promote it that way - you have to wonder what his motives are.
Also there's nothing to say that removing the control tyres won't make the situation worse - remember Honda & Yamaha could get tailored tyres as well to further increase their existing advantage over the rest.
