re: "Stoner said that with the Steel trellis design, manufacturing consistency was so bad that every motoGP frame handled differently." perhaps that was true, but that was a 1/2 frame design and not a FULL frame design like the multi- title/multi-rider winning superbikes (mass produced production kit btw). the problem may have had nothing to do with manufacturing...? but was inherent to the design itself. re: "With Audi's manufacturing experience I wonder if they could make each frame exactly the same." they don't need audi for this, they just need audi to PAY for this. there are at least a dozen craftsmen working right there in italy or in the world's high-end push bike industry (verlicci, bianchi, specialized, 7even, etc) that can stitch together frames in short order. it's what they do. all day, every day.
