The economy is the problem.
Tire companies are struggling globally. Auto production is still way down, their margins continue to get squeezed and budgets for things like racing support get slashed. If Dorna changed the rules to start a "tire war" there could very well be no one showing up to fight. Lord only knows what backdoor marketing deals are in play to keep the single supplier they have interested.
Dorna wants a show not a race. They ahve Rossi back where they want him and hope they get the chance to play Marquez as the heel to replace Stoner.
They should start running 2 races a weekend, the boring one we have now where there are 2 guys with the skill to leave the rest for dead most days for the "business" and a 2nd race for the fans that reverses the finishing order for the starting grid to make those guys work hard...
