Unfortunately I've got to agree with Stoner to an extent, having marshalled at club level, British Superbikes, World Superbikes and MotoGP for several years. I was disgusted to see people booing him at Donington on Day Of Champions, and the same with people booing Kiyonari and Greg Lavilla at Brands when they won the BSB championships, simply because they beat British riders to take the crown- nicer blokes you really couldn't wish to meet. I was on-scene at Thruxton BSB when a bike went into the crowd and took down a couple of blokes in front of their kids- while we were holding up a screen to let the medics deal with them, you had a good number of people holding up mobile phones to take pictures over the top. When Darren Mitchell was tragically killed at Brands, you even had some a-hole taking photos with a young lad at his side while he was being tended to, while grown men were crying at what they had seen- it takes a lot for a race marshal to react that way.
