@ roctor "When will Ducati cut the crap and build a race winning engine? The desmo is a leftover icon of old F1 days to sddress valve float.Yamaha and Honda showed they solved that problem.Ducati's investment/development is at the point of deminishing returns"
Ducati still use the Desmo in their bikes. HRC & Yam use current F1 tech (pneumatic valves int by Honda at Mugello 2008) to combat and compete with Desmo & Stoner (well, they couldn't be seen to 'copy' Ducati could they eh?).
You'll NEVER see pneumatic valves on a road bike - so using it is just a way to get higher rpms and an advantage in MotoGP -its a total development dead-end. Honda & Yam 'solved' the problem by using existing F1 tech to get an advantage.
Get MotoGP to ban the ludicrous and expensive tech (simple way is to introduce an rpm limit which removes the need for stupidly expensive & pointless tech) and the playing field would be levelled overnight and costs slashed. but HRC & Yam don't want that do they!
