As I've said before - poor old AB & Gresini are just test mules really for Honda-owned Showa suspension. Honda want their suspension to be as good as Ohlins, but aren't prepared to use their own kit on the HRC bikes and risk losing to Yamaha.
Testing restrictions mean not enough time to develop, so their answer is to hijack a struggling Gresini and force them to develop the boingy bits in actual races, and to hell with AB's career and Gresini's need for success to attract sponsorship. It's a one-way street IMO in Honda's direction.
As I've said too - when Honda customer bikes are out, you can bet they'll run Showa, and guess where the data to set them up will have come from? Thats righ folks, Honda's influence in MotoGP is a REALLY good thing! Disillusioned? You bet.
