Let no one misunderstand, Stoner is/was an extraordinary talent who can ride the rubber off the bike! What he did on board the Ducati is nothing short of miraculous given how every other rider who has ridden it has suffered.
The fact remains that there are fundamental issues with the Ducati that won't be solved by tinkering and it need a major overhaul.
On a point made by some that Stoner still won 3 races in 2010 compared with Rossi 0 in 2011. A bit harsh. We shouldn't forget the fundamental difference between the two bikes 800cc to 1000cc. The fact is Honda and Yamaha were better prepared particularly Honda who shone from the first race.
Ducati's problem as everyone but Ducati accepts is the engine. Brilliant when first conceived, but the competition has matched it and gone into the sunset.
