I won’t get into the circular development conversation that litters every discussion regarding Rossi and Ducati, but Dovi is not realistically any closer than Rossi was. I’m sure somebody here will have Rossi’s figures from the front for the past two years, but I remember some races/practices/qualifying where Rossi was close in practice (like the 5th in Motegi 2010 FP session). Dovi isn’t doing anything that Rossi didn’t do over the last two years. The other issue is with the statements regarding Rossi not extracting the best from the bike. Rossi did the best that he could on an ailing bike, and he rode that bike to the limit to the tune of multiple crashes trying to push the bike. It’s a nonsensical statement to say the least.
