I think for ll the praise Vale has earned, he's also earned some criticism. He has had failures, though many work tirelessly to make more excuses than he has himself. I also think he used hs influence to disadvantage other riders which I would think most anyone wth the political clout to do so also would.
I think this could have been the biggest gift he gave to MotoGP. He made the younger generation work harder with the goal of taking down the king. This made the cream rise to the top and gave us talents like Jorge and Casey. They studied the master and pushed boundaries that Rossi himself says he will have to work very hard to equal. Due to his longevity there is a new generation, Marquez, that replaces agreat rider that decided to hang up his leathers. Watching the old king and the kid that would be king push to catch the new normal in pure speed should be interesting.
