re: "don't they want to boost the grid numbers?" no, you're not accounting for recent events happening in the big picture. boosting grid number is less important now that carmelo's succesfully wrestled control of WSBK. the threat once posed by production racing is squarely in his hip pocket. though this is a correct decision regardless, he is free to act with impunity till such time someone smartens up and brings suit under european competition law.
