Comparing past and present riders is all academical really, Bikes, tyres, tracks etc are all different, Take John Surtees for example, Can you imagine a modern era rider having the strength and stamina to race and win a Moto2 bike then go on to do the same on a MotoGP macine? Also there where only 8 races a season instead of the 18 today. Who knows how this years championship will pan out, everyone thought JLO had it in the bag mid season until DP had his late surge. Rossi, shopuld win races this year, may even win the championship, but whatever does happen, he'll keep JLO and DP honest. Knowing that neither of them like to dice, just the knowledge of him stalking them will disrupt their metronomic lap times enough for him to be in with a shout.
