........What should also be remembered is that at the end of 2003 when Rossi left Honda for Yamaha, Gibernau emerging as Rossi's closest competitor and being spanish to boot, wasn't transfered into the Repsol team. And while none of us know for sure why, it is easy to guess .He was already being supplied with factory machinery by HRC, so there was no reason for him to move teams(riding on a bike sponsored by one of Repsols rival companies no less, Castrol).
According to some here such a scenario would not be possible, since Repsol supposedly has the "power" to deny Honda riders outside of their team factory spec machinery. Obviously enough they don't have such power.
