A lot of people also credit Masao Furusawa the man who introduced the big bang M1 engine at Yamaha for smoother power delivery for the immediate success of Rossi at Yamaha, and while he did help improve the bike a lot, the other Yamaha riders who had been there before didn't become more competitive. Only Stoner was ever able to be consistently competitive on the Ducati, so it was not Rossi's fault that he coudln't get Ducati to win. The Ducati pretty much ruined Marco Melandri's career in Motogp, after he had been a race winner on Honda.....
