Yesterday I wrote " I am left wondering if Cal's Tech 3 bike is a lot nearer factory spec than they are letting on. Duc are giving satelite teams factory bikes to speed development, so could Yam be secretly doing something similar ? " I have found the answer tucked away in MCN, where they say Cal is using this years engine in last years chassis. That's an improved engine in a Championship-winning chassis! As VR46 is also using this year's engine in last year's chassis it seems like Cal's comments that "We have nothing new to test" are pedanticallyy correct while not revealing the whole truth. On the other hand in MCN Mat Oxley quotes the old chestnut that " at least they are not starting the year with the wall requested by Rossi" which, as we all know, was instigated by Bridgestone ( and very likely secretly welcomed by Michelin ). .
