Its quite likely that CC won't get a Yam factory ride I agree - even if he had a stellar year his best hope of a factory MGP lies elsewhere (if at all - there's not enough factory seats). His only other hope of being competitive is if rule changes narrow the gap so non-factory teams are genuinely competitive.
Colin seemed v happy to play 2nd fiddle to VR, & VR liked having a No2 who was no threat. Yamaha though needed both their M1's to be front-runners and able to challenge for the Constructors WC. So they wanted CS (vetoed by VR) & ended up with JL. VR didn't like his Yam monopoly threatened, but Yam had a right not to waste their 2nd expensive MGP bike.
