Undoubtedly Cal is a talent and hopefully with a consistent point scoring season with a few more podiums in the mix maybe we can say he deserves a factory ride. Unfortunately Cals bike is massively slower through the speed traps, almost 10km/h slower than Marquez and slower than every bike in the top 12 qualifiers other than Espargaro who is on a CRT. Now this to me says that he his making up the time through talent and not machinery. As for Qatar... The speed differential was clearly visible on the straight. And for those of you who think he's a pussycat, go watch some of his riding from his WSS or WSBK years. This guy knows how to ride using controlled aggression. What's the point in passing a rider, risking being taken out or taking himself out when he was obviously going to get passed back on the straight lap after lap? Frustrating! But he showed maturity in knowing that a 5th is better than a DNF. Let's see what the rest of the season holds...
