i think Spies's fans have a portion of the blame to take in the downfall of Spies.
When he arrived in Motogp fresh from a tour de force in WSBK, his supremely patriotic fans predicted he'd be wiping the floor with the europeans with in a couple of seasons and then when he went to the works team , in the eyes of the same fans it was a forgone conclusion.
i think the fans demanded too much from a rider who was now riding against the worlds best and utlimatley have help end his career.
