Cal is a fast rider over one lap. But he has not shown that he is capable of being a champion. He got beat by Dovi who won only 1 race in 3 years on a Repsol. He got 6 podiums on a the Tech 3 Yamaha in 2012, compared to 7 podiums on the Repsol Honda in 2011. I'm pretty sure Yamaha took that into account. Or why do you guys think Dovi didn't get a factory Yamaha ??? So if Dovi's results on a factory Honda and a Satellite Yamaha were virtually the same and he beat Cal, what would make Yamaha think that Cal would be any faster on a factory Yamaha ??? Plus they need to take care of the future. Last year Pol was the second best rider in Moto2 after Marquez, and Yamaha can't afford to let Honda snatch up all the best talent available in Moto2 and pick up the left overs. Honda signed all previous 3 Moto2 championships, and Yamaha knowing Pol is the favourite for this years title obviously want to beat Honda to the punch this time around....
