I agree with you on that too, but the guys you are referring to with better backing but not the most talent don't usually last more than a year or 2 with the factories. (Biaggi with repsol, Edwards/spies with Yamaha, etc) Pedro Lorenzo, stoner rossi and now Marquez have and will have been with the factories for years to come. You're also right there are limited seats and if Yamaha was doing a 3 rider team like repsol did in 2011, we'd be having a completely different discussion. All they can do is pick the riders that best give them a chance at the title. If the get a bad egg with great backing so to speak, they won't last more than a year or 2 and it's off to the next prospect.
