@ CRT. I think that Dovi has already started to clean the stain that VR's stint had on them though.
Stoner was regarded as a freak anomaly on the Ducati. When Rossi with his reputation & standing then couldn't ride it or get anywhere with it, there seemed to be the perception that if the great VR couldn't sort it out, then it could not BE sorted and handled by other more mortal pilots.
Dovi at least is exploding that myth. After all, by so many Dovi is perceived as 'good, but not THAT good'. So - if Dovi can ride it at least as well as Rossi, then other riders will feel they could as well.
Rossi was always a lose-lose for Ducati and I always felt it was a crazy decision on their part to hire him. Dovi is turning out to be just the guy Ducati need right now I think to restore some faith and belief in their bike.
