As readers of my posts will tell you, I'm no expert. However I can tell you that the 80% ride/20% bike phrase is not new. It stems from the time when grids were full of single cylinder Nortons but the same riders were always at the front. The bikes were all within 1 or 2 BHP of each other and if a better frame came along, or a 5 speed gearbox was available to replace the 4 speed box, of course the best riders got them first anyway.
