@jambop Dovizioso's performance goes off when the tyres are gone. The Bridgestones don't work very well for Ducati.
The benchmark was different for Rossi. The "greatest ever" should be able to win more races than anyone else on any bike capable of winning, or forfeit the claim. It may be harsh, but he was the architect of that benchmark...to his cost.
No-one claims Dovizioso is the greatest ever, so he can be assessed favourably for a lesser performance...
I agree with your point about Dovi's qualifying and staying upright - it's impressive.
