The point I was trying to make was even Lorenzo struggled to fully learn the bikes in his first season and crashed hard. He went through 7 rounds in his first season with two 6th place finishes and a 10th.
There is no training other than bike time a rider can do with the prototype class, moto2 is so far removed from the top class that only the freakishly talented riders like Marquez and Lorenzo (granted he came from 250cc) go fast straight away.
I think a better comparison would be Bradly consistently beating Iannone as one would expect given the superior bike rather than fighting it out with Crutchlow and Rossi on the other yamahas - although we all wish he could.
