shakennstirred Rules say As of the 2012 season, the maximum engine displacement permitted is 1000cc with a maximum of four cylinders and maximum bore of 81 mm - 2-stroke engines are not allowed. A maximum of 5 engines may be used by each permanent contracted rider for all the scheduled races of the season. They dont allow more then 1000cc you right!! with one maximum bore limited to 81 mm its obivious that one Vtwin its impossible for we compared the Ducati 999 r use one Bore of 104mm to rev safe at 11 or 12000 rpm and still dont make more power then one inline 4 but for one triple engine the Bore of 81 mm is very reasonable for exemple the Triumph Daytone use 79 mm Bore.. i know that when we have more Cilinders is allways better for racing normaly revs higher wish means Horsepower and is more esay to race.. but with this new electronics i mean i dunno if you remember the Aprilia Cube?? i dunno if it was limited to 81 mm bore on that time in 2003 and 2004 but it was ranked has one
