I agree the four bike rule didn't kick until Yamaha had a big stink about getting owned in 2011 when Stoner, Dovi, Pedrosa, and Simoncelli all had factory support and ran away with the constructors championship.
The thing about Honda is they are happy to support their riders and see them win on a Honda. YamHa on the other hand favours a hierarchy when it comes to their riders. Theres a reason why Spies, Toseland, Edwards, Dovi, and now Crutchlow won't/didn't succeed there.
