Amazing what people here come up with. They forget or never read the reasons Stoner quit. He doesn't like the politics, he doesn't like the press, he doesn't like his fans, he doesn't like the lack of respect, he doesn't like the CRTs, he doesn't like the other riders, he doesn't like other riders out on the track, he doesn't like other riders following him, he doesn't like battling, he doesn't like traveling and being away from his family, he doesn't like commitments for PR, and list goes on and on. NONE OF THAT HAS CHANGED!!!
What he does like is riding the bike and his team, so testing is the perfect venue for him. He gets to ride the latest and greatest without all the stuff he doesn't like. Don't hold your breath for a comeback.
And I am just speculating here, but I'll bet he doesn't like his fans calling him Casey like they know him or something.
