PCXMAC have you been on the raz?. The ECU will be sealed by Dorna, break the seal and they know they have been tampered with, as in BSB.
The privateers will be using proprietary written software ie. Marelli, they have to understand the parameters which there will be many. The factories will be getting the same hardware and adapting their existing software/logic to run on the mareli ECU, kind of like getting android to run on an Ipad, who would want to? Of course they want to add their existing transducers, switches and drivers into the new ECU but they will only have the same number of ports as you call it (thats communication) as the privateers.
As I say with limited input and outputs of the control ECU, they will be restricted, at the moment they can build a new ECU with as many bytes of inputs and outputs, working and user memory as they like.
