So, what's changed? Is it just that it might get shown on TV outside Europe? Stoner, Redding and Bradl all realised it was the best way into the top league so it has not exactly been a Spanish only series for many years. True, it has produced a stream of very good Spanish riders (hardly surprising) but those who go on about Spanish domination in the top class should look at their own country's attitude to their home championship. If they put in half the effort that the Spanish do, the mix would be different.
