Cal Crutchlow returned after missing Saturday's qualifying session due to an ankle injury.

Countryman James Ellison limped away from a highside at the end of the session, while fellow ART rider Mattia Pasini suffered problems with both his bikes.

Cardion AB Ducati's Karel Abraham is absent this weekend due to finger fractures in his left hand sustained during testing at Aragon.

Silverstone is the first event where the new specification front slick tyre becomes standard.
