Qualifying - US MotoGP, Laguna Seca

Full qualifying times from the US MotoGP at Lagua Seca, round 10 of 18.
Ben Spies suffered a big accident with twelve minutes to go and was clearly shaken, but was able to return to the track in the closing minutes.

Cardion AB Ducati's Karel Abraham is returning to action this weekend, while Pramac Ducati's Hector Barbera has been ruled out by a broken leg in a training accident.

Barbera has been replaced by former MotoGP race winner Toni Elias, who split from the Aspar Moto2 team after Mugello.

The US GP also sees AMA rider Steve Rapp become the first wild-card entry of the season and first ever for the new CRT class.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa has one of the new RC213Vs available for Laguna Seca, while team-mate Casey Stoner has the new engine in the present chassis, as he had requested. Ducati are expected to debut 'some' new parts.

Well, I thought for sure this would be Ben's time to shine. With all that weight lifted off his shoulders (you know, that great feeling one gets when they QUIT a factory sponsored ride in MotoGP - Ahh, what a GREAT feeling!) and racing on his home track!! Oh man, I just knew Ben and his crack team were going to SMOKE the competition! But... Alas, Ben crashes and can't even put his bike on the front row of his home race. What a sad, sad chapter, no, strike that, paragraph, this will be in GP history. But hey, THANK GOD it's close to being over! Mike Villasenor - The UNDISPUTED KING of Ortega Highway!!

Relieved to see Ben is ok after that big crash. And I hope those few who were mocking Crutchlow for his crash yesterday can appreciate that these guys are all trying hard and on the edge. They don't deserve ridicule.
